I reached out to Overdrive this morning because we have 35 holds on "Things We Never Got Over" - and the copy we own is in German. I'm guessing  most of the patrons will be surprised when they check it out and see that it's not written in English. (So I didn't order another copy to help with the holds ratio....)
This specific title is even the one they used in their update example below. The title in English is Audible exclusive so not available to purchase through Overdrive.
Now when a patron checks out a title, places that title on hold, or even adds a Notify Me tag, they will get a prompt letting them know the title is not in English, just like the example below.
This same notification pops up if someone is checking out via the website.
So the people who placed the hold prior to 3/14/2024 didn't get the notice - I'm not sure if they will when they check it out, but going forward it will be more clear to patrons if it's not in English.

Libby update
3/14/2024
Based on partner and user feedback, Libby's latest update introduces a prompt to users when they borrow, place a hold, or add a Notify Me tag to a title in a language different from the one they have set as their app preference.
The goal of this update is to ensure users are interacting with the titles they are most interested in, reducing instances of accidentally borrowing or requesting books in a language they aren't familiar with. This is especially helpful when a title's language may not be clear from the cover image.
