Universal Class and Overdrive

At least one of the counties has Universal Class and it is expiring soon. They are looking at renewing it. Rob reached out to me so I can tell the group that the consortia level cost is $7,500. Individual libraries are $1,000 and up. He just wanted to coordinate that renewal with the group if others are interested in the service.

Natrona County does not have Universal Class, so I can’t answer questions about it, but Converse County is one that offers it and can probably do a better job answering questions.

At this time Natrona County is not interested, but if enough other libraries were we’re not adverse to exploring it. Let me know if you want us to explore it.

Sweetwater had Universal Class for years.

We discontinued it last year.

UC pros -- longer courses so more in depth instruction, hobby and general interest courses

UC cons -- dated interface, minimal use even when promoted (the most we've ever had is 30 patrons at a time), courses are too long and do not cater to quick learning

Now that the state has LinkedIn Learning, we have no interest in exploring UC at this time.
